For over 75 years, the experts at what is now LMT Onsrud have stood for unparalleled tool building quality and precision. LMT Onsrud specializes in carbide milling cutters, focused in particular on the high-speed machining of aluminum, plastic, and composite materials.
1946
Onsrud Cutter Manufacturing Company (OCMC) was founded in Libertyville, Illinois in 1946 with initial high speed steel and carbide tipped router tooling being manufactured for various wood applications.
1979
Onsrud Cutter Manufacturing Group and its subsidiaries were sold to an employee investment group. The company was renamed Onsrud Cutter, Inc. (OCI). Annual sales in 1979 were $6.5 million.
1989
Onsrud Cutter introduced a line of tooling specifically designed to cut plastics. From a modest start of 48 SKUs in 1983, this plastics line has developed into a complete catalog of 650 tools for plastic machining and now accounts for 31% of Onsrud Cutter’s total volume.
1996
Onsrud Cutter Inc. celebrates 50 successful years in Libertyville, Illinois
1996
June 2, 1996 was proclaimed as Onsrud Cutter Day by the County Board of Lake County in recognition of 50 years of service to the community.
1999
Onsrud Cutter, Inc. is aquired by the LMT Group from Germany and becomes LMT Onsrud.
2016
LMT Onsrud celebrated its 70th anniversary.
